Wired publishes the Klein NSA paper
Hopefully this won't get buried, but Wired has published the Mark Klein story regarding the NSA's splicing of monitoring equipment into AT&T's communications backbone in San Francisco. A summary of the article can be found here at ZDNet.
The almost silent reaction on the part of the general public to the breaking of this story a few weeks ago and the administration's fumbling justifications since has me highly disappointed. I wish more people actually cared about their basic freedoms and liberties. We are continuing down a path wherein one day we will look around and find ourselves in some Disneyland version of the Soviet Union, with no rights but 100 different brands of cereal on well-stocked shelves.
In more positive news, we have had consistently good weather since the weekend, and all the flooding reported in my last entry has appeared to have subsided. On Saturday I saw a couple of places up in Concord NH where sinkholes had opened up.
