159 million people affected by data breaches in under three years
While the government battles to limit our rights, increase its surveillance over us, and hand over our bandwidth to the major ISP's, Ars Technica points to a study indicating that 159 million people have been impacted by exposure of personal data. That represents the majority of adults in the USA. Working in technical support at a major financial company, this information does not surprise me. Employees with a limited understanding of how data exposure happens clamor for convenient bells and whistles like wireless-enabled laptops and Blackberries - and the results are exposure of customer data.
